What to Expect:
Trails range from easy to strenuous in difficulty depending on where you want to end up. To get to the peak, take the Grindstone trail (3.0 miles one way) to the summit. This is rated as strenuous and marked by blue dots.
For a beautiful view on a clear day take the Little Pinnacle Overlook Trail from behind the restroom to see the Big Pinnacle, Hanging Rock State Park, and Sauratown Mountain.

Rock climbing & rappelling are permitted in designated areas. Climbers must obtain a permit from the park and carry it with them at all times. Permit is free unless you are an organized or commercial climbing group.

There are 38 canoe access sites along the Yadkin River Canoe Trail.**No canoe rentals**
Fishing is allowed on the Yadkin River. Anglers must obtain a permit.
Canoe campsites are available with permit, with reservations made in advance. These sites are specifically for paddlers travelling on the Yadkin River Canoe Trail. These sites do not have water or toilet facilities.
Family camping area has 49 tent & trailer campsites. Sites are open March 15- November 30. Water & toilet amenities are available. Each site contains a table, grill and tent pad. Firewood may not be gathered from the forest but can be bought by a local vendor.
Organized youth groups can rent a large site across the river with an advance reservation.
